His Word Is Proven So I Must Share It

1. Introduction:  "Refresh Your Roots"

Our previous mission statement: "Rooted in the Word,  Renewed by the Spirit..." (based on Colossians 2:6-7).

2.   The Reliable Results of God's Revelation -- Isaiah 55:10-11.

2.1. Revelation --  God's Word is from His mouth to our mouths, from His Spirit to our hearts. 1 Cor.2:9-12; Rom.8:15-16.

2.2.  Rain -- God's Word is like rain water that falls to the ground, absorbed by the soil, nourishing the vegetation, which   is transformed into food -- it has a series of results, a combination of divine purposes and human participation.   Sow and water the seed, harvest the crop, eat the bread.

2.3. Response -- God's Word is both "the word of His grace"    (Acts 20:24,32) and "the word of faith" (Romans 10:8).   Moses in Deuteronomy 30:14.   God to Joshua in Joshua 1:7-9.    What is biblical meditation?  From information to formation to transformation.   Paul in Romans 10:8,17.

2.4. Results -- True faith is accompanied by obedience, application.

Recall Jesus' parable at the end of the Sermon on the Mount on the wise and foolish builders (Matt.7:24-27)   Remember James' application (James 1:21,22).     The Nike slogan is: "Just do it!   "God is faithful" - He keeps His word, He fulfills His purposes.

3. The Range & Relevance of God's Revelation -- 2 Timothy 3:14-17

3.1. Range -- the Law (Torah), the Prophets (Nevi'im) and the Writings (Kethuvim) including the Psalms (Luke 24:27),    the Gospels, the Acts, the Epistles, the Revelation.

"All Scripture" -- God's inspired book, grace book (for our salvation), growth book, guidance book.

3.2. Relevance -- Jesus Christ is "the Word of life" (1 John 1:11), He has "the words of eternal life" (John 6:68). God's Word   is "living and active" (Heb.4:12).

3.3. Resonance -- Paul's final charge to Timothy in 2 Tim.4:2:   "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season...     "Keryxon ton Logon ... eukairos, akairos..."  In computer language, We must login, logon, and never logoff!   1 Thess.1:8 -- "The Lord's message (logos) rang out from you ...   your faith in God has become known everywhere."

3.4 . Reaching the Young -- the 4/14 Window -- see 2 Tim.3:14.

4. Conclusion:  Re-telling HIS Story Good news is not good news unless it is shared.

4.1. Always "Remember Jesus Christ ..." (2 Tim.2:8).   He is the Word of God, He is the Gospel, "the Way and the Truth and the Life" (John 14:6)

4.2. Reverence and respect (1 Peter 3:15) to "do the work of an  evangelist" (2 Tim.4:5).

4.3. "Ready at His Return".  When we are always ready to trust, obey  and share His Word, we will be ready for His return.

Ponder the final testimony of the Apostle Paul - 2 Tim.4:6-8.
