Biography

Dr Mary W J Tay taught English at Nanyang University and Linguistics at the National University of Singapore. As international linguistic consultant for OMF International, she equipped hundreds of Westerners and Asians with cross-cultural skills for work in Asia. Dr Tay holds an Honours degree in English Literature from the University of Malaya, a Ph.D in Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh, and a Master of Divinity from Regent College, Canada.

Dr Mary W J Tay worships at St. John’s-St. Margaret’s Church (SJSM) and serves in Christian education, intercession, and mentoring. In 1989, she left university teaching at the peak of her career to answer God’s call to full-time Christian ministry. After obtaining a Master of Divinity from Regent College (1991), she joined OMF International as linguistic consultant. She currently teaches Biblical Languages (Hebrew and Greek) at Bethany International University (aka Bethany School of Missions). She has written the following books: How to Read the Bible, The Single’s Connection, and Grace and Gratitude (her autobiography), published by Armour Publishing.
