Alex Lo

Alex was born again in 1980 and was raised spiritually by the Singapore Polytechnic Navigators where he also served for 10 years. He joined BFEC through the SSS class.

Alex is a Managing Director of Tech Source Systems, a local software distribution company and was a member of the Christian Business Men’s Committee (CBMC).

He is married to Corinne, with 4 children: Joanna, Elina, Deborah & David. He was a Deacon from 2007 undershepherding several cell leaders, and was appointed as an Elder in 2012.

Alex is currently the Chairman of both the Elders Board & Missions Board. He is a rather meticulous guy who enjoys putting things together - be it personalised camp badges or Jubilee Journals, and is passionate about intentional discipleship.

Bishop Moses Tay (Anglican)

Our guest speaker, Rt Revd Moses Tay, is the retired Bishop of Singapore (1982-2000) and the first Archbishop of the Anglican Church in S.E Asia (1996-2000). His first training was in Medicine, specializing in Internal Medicine and in Hospital Administration.

Now in his retirement, he is involved in mentoring, missions and the ministry of local churches. Currently, he is involved with the local and global family gatherings that seek the Lord and His Kingdom purposes through worship and prayer. He is married to Cynthia, and has a son (an oral surgeon) and a daughter (a pediatrician) and 6 grandchildren.

Moses Tay (born in 1938) was first trained in medicine, graduating with MB,BS from the University of Singapore in 1962. He practised in Malaysia for 8 years before returning to serve in the Ministry of Health in Singapore. He obtained the degree of Bachelor of Divinity (with Honours) from London University in 1971, and Master of Medicine (Int. Med) from University of Singapore in 1972.  He was the Medical Superintendent of Alexandra Hospital (1978-1981) and Director of Tan Tock Seng Hospital (1982) before he became the Bishop of Singapore (1982-2000).  He was also the first Archbishop of the Anglican Church in S. E. Asia (1996-2000).  He retired in 2000 but continues to be actively involved in mentoring, missions and ministry in the church in Singapore and beyond.

 He is married to Cynthia and has a son Andrew (a Senior Consultant Oral Surgeon), a daughter Stacey (Associate Professor in Paediatrics with the National University of Singapore), and six school going grandchildren.

Moses Tay (Moses Tay Leng Kong; 鄭靈光) was the 7th Bishop of Singapore from 1982 to 1999 and the first Archbishop of the Province of Anglican Church in South East Asia from 1996 to 2000.

In 1982, Dr Tay was installed as the 7th Bishop of Singapore.

On 2 February 1996, Dr Tay was installed as first archbishop of the new Anglican Province of Southeast Asia by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr George Carey.

Moses was born into a devout Christian family in Malaysia. After completing his medical studies in Singapore, he returned to serve in Malaysia. In 1970, he moved to work in the Ministry of Health in Singapore. At the same time, he did his theological studies as an external student with the University of London. He went on to specialise in Internal Medicine but soon moved to hospital administration. He was ordained as non-stipendiary priest in 1978. Moses was the Director of Tan Tock Seng Hospital when he was elected and appointed as the Bishop of Singapore. He served as the 7th Bishop of Singapore (1982-2000) and also the 1stArchbishop of the Province of South East Asia (1996-2000).Now in his retirement, he continues to be actively involved in mentoring, missions and ministry in the church in Singapore and beyond. He and his wife Cynthia, as well as his children and grandchildren, live in Singapore. In 2009, he released his self-authored biography Born for Blessings: An Autobiography of Moses Tay.
