Lawrence Chua

Lawrence Chua is Senior Pastor of Living Sanctuary Brethren Church.

He is a pastor, father, lawyer, preacher, author and triathlete all rolled into one.

Trained in London and running his own law practice, he is also one of Living Sanctuary’s founding elders and its honorary senior pastor. In 1997 Pastor Lawrence took the church to its new premises in Hougang, challenging the 200-strong congregation to bring Christ to an under-reached heartland.

Pastor Lawrence exercises a regular preaching ministry at LSBC, and has endeared himself to its growing Chinese congregation by learning to preach and pray in mandarin and dialect. In spite of an exacting schedule, he is always where the people are. He strikes you as one with boundless energy and tremendous drive to achieve what he believes God has called LSBC to do for Hougang. All this as he admits is made possible through a close communion with and anointing from the Lord.

Pastor Lawrence is married to Cindy, who was a schoolteacher for many years. They have three children: Sue Ern, Ern Kiang, and Lynn Ern, who sometimes call their father ‘Superman’. The days of his running marathons and triathlons are over, but Pastor Lawrence continues to pursue his life-long hobby of running, reads avidly, and thoroughly enjoys the occasional char kway teow.
