Bishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon (Methodist)

Our guest speaker, Robert M. Solomon is Bishop Emeritus of The Methodist Church in Singapore.

After graduating from the University of Singapore with an MBBS in 1980, Dr Solomon gave up a lucrative career as a doctor to go into full-time ministry. He went on to obtain a Masters in Divinity from Asian Theological Seminary in 1984, an M.I.S. (Hons) (Intercultural Studies) from Alliance Biblical Seminary in 1984, and a Ph.D. in pastoral theology from Edinburgh University in 1993.

He has served previously as a medical doctor, church pastor, principal of Trinity Theological College, and president of the National Council of Churches of Singapore.

He was first elected Bishop in 2000 at the age of 44, one of the youngest pastors to be elected bishop of the nearly 40,000 Methodists in Singapore. He was again re-elected in 2004 and served his third and final term from 2008 to 2012. He is suceeded by Bishop Dr Wee Boon Hup.

He has contributed to many books, theological dictionaries, and journals, and authored many books including The Race, The Conscience, The Enduring Word, and The Virtuous Life.

Caleb Chua Soon Boon

Caleb Chua Soon Boon is an Executive Elder at Bethesda Frankel Estate Church (BFEC).

Caleb is married to Seow Geok; with children Stephanie, Chris, and Zachary. He is involved with organizational development work as consultant & management trainer for over 20 years, and has run his own business since 2003.

Having become a Christian since 1976, Caleb learned the Bible through discipleship groups & enrolled in the Institute of Biblical Studies under CCC. He Joined BFEC during University and was baptized on 26 Oct 1980. Caleb led cell groups at ATC (Adult Training Class) and was Chairman of ATC for 5 years. He is best known for organizing church camps almost annually for 6 years. Caleb was a Deacon for many years, and became an Elder in 2006 at age 50. He enjoys discipling in small group settings, and preparing for sermons. Caleb is always trying his best to be involved in weekly visitation, and his passion is to understand & preach God’s word for life change.

His hobbies include reading, cooking and ("if got money") trying to look around for new places to eat at!

Chris Creech (Baptist)

Introduction of our guest speaker:

An ordained minister of the Baptist General Conference (USA), Rev. Dr. Christopher Creechhas been involved in theological education, having taught for two years at Bible Institute of Colorado and has served as an adjunct faculty in various seminaries and bible institutes in United States, Russia, Estonia and Brazil. He has also served for thirty years in the pastoral ministry in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado Springs and South Dakota, and has planted a church in Toronto, Canada. Rev. Dr. Creech has been married to Faith for 30 ½ years and they have one daughter, Rachel, son-in-law, Chris and two grandchildren Tyler and Jackson.

Christopher Yuan

              What many would consider their worst nightmare has become a reality for Christopher Yuan. While attending dental school, he began living promiscuously as a homosexual and experimenting with illicit drugs. Within a few years, he was expelled from dental school, imprisoned for drug dealing and discovered that he was HIV positive. 

              But God has turned his nightmare into an exciting and inspiring story of redemption, grace and transformation. Christopher has an understanding heart for and a desire to minister to those working through issues of sexuality and to those living with HIV/AIDS. He speaks locally and internationally to youth, on college campuses, in churches and in prisons. 

              Christopher graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2005 and Wheaton College Graduate School in 2007 with a Master of Arts in Biblical Exegesis and is currently pursuing a doctorate of ministry at Bethel Seminary. He now teaches at Moody while continuing his speaking ministry which has reached four continents around the world. Christopher has spoken at both Saddleback Church and Willow Creek Community Church in America and at many conferences including InterVarsity's Urbana and the Moody Pastors' Conference and Men's Conference. He is also featured in the award-winning documentary, "HOPE Positive: Surviving the Sentence of AIDS" and has co-authored with his mother,Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son's Journey to God, A Broken Mother's Search for Hope (forthcoming May 3, 2011 by WaterBrook Multnomah a division of Random House).
