Gathering together to worship God is biblically and spiritually significant despite the current restrictions. It shows us what being church is about for we do not follow Christ in isolation but in community – be it gathering online for a season or physically now that we are allowed to do so.
After 6 months, we are reopening our premises for worship services from Sunday 4 October 2020. Even though the government has announced allowance for 100, we will start with one service, in English, for 50 attendees at 9.00 AM. Eventually, we may increase the number or open up more services.
The service for 50 will be LIVE streamed from our sanctuary each Sunday at 9am. (The link to the LIVE stream can be found at https://bfec.sg/sermons or by subscribing to our YouTube channel at https://bfec.sg/youtube or our Facebook page https://bfec.sg/facebook
WORSHIPPING AS ONE CHURCH AT 9AM
From 4 Oct, those worshipping from home will get to worship together with those gathered physically. Those who have been used to accessing the service online at 8am or 10am will now come online at 9am as well. (On a technical note, we advise that you log in BEFORE 9am, say 10min earlier so that you can connect to the LIVE stream and not miss the start.) As we make these adjustments, I think it is very meaningful to worship as ONE church together at 9am.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE PHYSICAL SERVICE?
The physical service for 50 attendees is open to ALL. However, if more than 50 register, we seek your understanding that priority will be given to those with difficulty accessing our online services. We recommend that you go ahead and register if you are keen to attend. This will help us to know if we should increase the number eventually.
HOW TO REGISTER?
Registration helps us ensure every seat is accounted for. Visit this link to register: https://bfec.sg/service
Some things to note regarding registration:
- Registration will be open from Sunday 12 noon to Friday 12 noon weekly.
- Registration is on a week-to-week basis. (No advance bookings will be received. This helps us account for every seat, every week.)
- As you go online to register, you may reserve up to 5 seats per registration. The Names of each attendee is required.
- Look out for email confirmation for every successful registration.
Subsequently, if you are not able to make it for the service, please release your seats at least 24 hours before the start of the service so that others on the waiting list can attend.
Contact the church office at this number: 6448-1800 during office hours
- for assistance with registration
- for confirmation on your registration (if you did not receive email confirmation)
- for help to cancel your registration
If all 50 seats are taken up, you may want to put your name on the waiting list so that you can be notified if seats become available.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU RETURN FOR SERVICE?
Before you come, do ensure you are not feeling unwell or have a fever, have recently travelled overseas in the last 14 days, or under stay home notice.
Please aim to be in church at least 15mins earlier at 8.45am to facilitate safe entry checks.
When you arrive:
- Proceed to the front or back playground for temperature check and safe entry protocol.
At all times:
- Observe safe-distancing measures.
- Wear your mask at all times.
- We will be seated 1m apart from each other throughout the service, whether we come alone or with others.
- After service, no refreshments are allowed and all worshippers should leave immediately after the service. No mingling before, during or after service in our church premises.
No singing is allowed even in a group of 50. As such, we will playback pre-recorded worship songs (that were pre-recorded on Saturday) during the service.
The rest of the service elements – from the Welcome, the Lord’s Supper, the Offering, Announcements and the Sermon will be conducted LIVE (as far as possible) from Frankel on Sunday.
For the Lord’s Supper, we will issue you the emblems after you have done your safe entry checks.
For the Offering, apart from giving online, we have made Offering boxes for the General and Missions Funds. These will be placed at the back of the hall for you to place your offerings before or after the service.
ARE CELL GROUPS AND MINISTRIES ALLOWED TO MEET IN THE CHURCH PREMISES NOW THAT CHURCH WILL BE REOPENED FROM 4 OCT?
The church office is open to consider your request on a case-by-case basis if you are able to adhere to our safe management measures. So long as the Bethesda Katong Kindergarten is in session during the week, due consideration will need to be made to prioritize the health and safety of the teachers and children. Do email Shirley Soo at email@example.com for further discussion.
Let’s pray for one another as we all make preparations for this. We really look forward to this reopening. I sincerely know you do too. God bless.
In His grace
Elder Jimmy Tan, Dy Chairman
