We are a team who are passionate about one main thing, making much of Jesus Christ.
ELDER, PASTORAL & OPERATIONS
Elder Jimmy came to faith at 11 in Bedok Methodist Church but followed his brother to BFEC in 1977. He grew spiritually through the Senior Sunday School (now Grow@Noon), Youth For Christ, the Adults Training Class and Varsity Christian Fellowship. Jim was baptised in 1980 and was a cell leader of several groups.
After NUS, Jim joined S’pore Broadcasting Corporation (now Mediacorp) and helped set up Channel NewsAsia. 12 years later, he resigned to wait upon the Lord; and soon joined Touch Media Ministry to produce movies for local & regional church use. He subsequently became a Project Manager with Yellow Ribbon Project for 1 year. A Deacon since 1998 and Elder since 2006, he joined BFEC full time on 1 Apr 2006, as Youth & Operations Minister, helping Council to plan & coordinate all aspects of church life.
His passion is to communicate so as to edify, be it through ministering words, pictures or projects that enable others. Elder Jim unwinds in walks and swims, often with wife Monika whom he married in 1994. They have two daughters Sharon-Anne & Hannah-Jayne. His parents, Mr & Mrs Tan Kim Suan, are also baptised members of our church.
Lindis started attending BFEC from a very young age through BKK. She was a music teacher for 16 years before answering God’s call to fulltime ministry. After completing her theological studies, the Lord sent her to Philippines for 2 years to enhance the ministry in the Brethren churches there. On her return, she has been involved in music (can’t run away from that!), pastoral care and counselling. She was among a core group that started BFEC Cares ministry.
Elder Melville has been with BFEC since 1956 and committed his life to Christ shortly thereafter (1957). He was trained as a chemical engineer, but then heard God’s call to be a missionary, and went for theological training in Adelaide after finishing university. From 1973 he taught at Singapore Bible College until leaving for Japan in 1975.
Elder Melville and his wife, Salome, served a total of 27 years in Japan – 19 years from 1975 to 1994, and then 8 years from 2003 to 2010. The years in between, 1995 to 2001, were spent at Asian Cross-Cultural Training Institute where he served as dean. They returned from the mission field in 2010.
Elder Melville is currently part of the pastoral team at BFEC and also serves on the pastoral team at the Japanese Christian Fellowship Church.

Fang Fang is amazed and grateful that Jesus Christ would save a sinner like her by dying on the cross on her behalf.
She feels a great privilege to be part of the pastoral team and hopes that through biblical counselling, more people will see and savour the beauty of Jesus Christ.
